Happy New Year Everyone! This is my first time writing a post for the COCO Mag and it’s definitely a pleasure! The theme for this issue is “To New Beginnings” and rightfully as we get the opportunity to set new goals, make new experiences in a new year. So, when I was thinking about the new beginnings I wanted for 2016, I envisioned 5 things EVERYONE should do more in 2016! Here they are:
1. Drink More Water
I never understood the benefit of drinking water throughout the day until I started! It’s not a fad, it’s not overrated. In a world with so many things harmful to your body such as soda and juices with artificial flavours and colouring, water seems like a good idea! When you drink water you allow the release of toxins which not only helps your body internally but makes a tremendous difference to your skin! If you really want a “detox” you should add lemons to the water!
2. Tailor ALL My Clothes
Whether you’re a woman with a small frame, or a man with “beer belly” issues, tailored garments are the way forward. I’ve found, and research shows, that REGARDLESS of your size and shape, ill-fitted clothes do much more harm than good! I encourage everyone to find a local tailor and have your clothes tailored!! Also, remember, tight and tailored are NOT the same!
3. Wear More Sunscreen/Moisturizer
Simple Equation. Skin + Sun = Bad. But Skin + Sun + Sun Screen (w/SPF) = GREAT!
There’s something about moisturizing that adds life to your skin and reduces aging, especially those with Vitamins A, E and C. Men, this is for you also! You don’t see the benefits now, but you will later.
4. Take Style Risks
I believe everyone should do this in 2016. This may help you in developing yourself and your personality further. Personal development often goes beyond the job, saving and exercising but doing something you’ve never done before and something you KNOW people will see and may love. . Guys, if you’re comfortable in pants, wear shorts on the weekend! Women if you feel great in black, try wearing cobalt blue!
5. Get Up , Dress Up and Show Up
The year won’t be perfect. So, no matter how you feel, put your best foot forward and GET UP. Dress UP! And SHOW UP!
