Mornings can be hard for many. Sometimes outside is just too cold, the bed too comfortable or you simply aren’t a morning person. I can definitely relate. For some, a cup of coffee is just the right picker–upper to get the day started, others, may prefer inspiration of another kind. Well, whatever your preference, my unique blend of motivational, reflective and candid offerings, are aimed at encouraging us all to Create a Great Day!
Recapturing Our Youth
“Tarry a moment to watch the chaos of a playground, Crayola-coloured shirts of running children, all trying out their wings. – Dr. SunWolf
Have you recently stopped to observe children? I am not talking about checking to see if they’re socks matched or if their faces were clean. I mean REALLY observe them!
Children embrace life to the fullest! They know how to live in the moment and to make that moment count! Whether attending a birthday party, enjoying a day at the beach, going on a playdate or simply playing with a used card-board box, children have seemingly learnt the art of finding joy in the simplest pursuits.
These little angels are also the most accepting persons I have ever encountered. Consider how quickly they make and change best friends. Place two or three children in a room, who are total strangers to each other, and within minutes…they are fast friends. Colour, class, race or religion is irrelevant! Their primary focus is sharing and enjoying each other’s company, within the time and space accorded to them. Talk about unadulterated Joy!
I was recently blessed with the opportunity of observing a group of youngsters at their school’s Sports Day and was immediately transported! I was transported to a time when life was exhilarating and I laughed and lived like there was no tomorrow. It was AWESOME!
Well guess what, despite our herculean efforts, we cannot turn back the hands of time. However, we can reclaim our optimism about life, grabbing hold of every 24 hours given as though they were our last.
So today, despite life’s challenges, disappointments or sorrows let us endeavour to be more childlike in our faith. Let‘s find joy in the simpler things of life. Let’s be friendly so that we can attract friends. Let’s be less distrusting, less cynical in our relationships with each other.
In essence, let’s choose to look at life through rose coloured sun-glasses fervently anticipating that pot of gold at the end of our rainbow. If we believe this with all our hearts, with our eyes squeezed tightly, when we open them – our ‘Happily Ever After’ will be today.
Create a Great Day!
