Montego Bay. Reggae. Bob Marley. Jerk Spice. These are merely a few words that have become synonymous with the fifth largest nation in the Caribbean, Jamaica. Jamaicans near and far represent their culture in their speech, the way they dress, the music they listen to as well as the events they attend.
Branded events have become extremely popular in the last decade or more on the Land of Wood and Water. From the annual Sting stage show, Reggae Sumfest, right down to Dream Weekend; locals and visitors alike are able to enjoy the best of Jamaica’s culture right on her shorelines.
One particular event we have our eyes on is IGLOO; it has become one of the most recognised events born in Jamaica with international appeal, which is representative of the communities Caribbean emigrants live in today. Many Caribbean nationals relocated overseas from the beautiful landscape of their island homes in an effort to create a life they deemed worth living. What better way to do that than to celebrate at an event with YOU in mind
The IGLOO brand was created for the patron! Time and time again you may go to an event, tell the bartender what you would like to drink only for him or her to say, “We don’t have that here.” At IGLOO that will never happen because YOU are the bartender. Essentially, you bring your IGLOO, which is the name given to your cooler(s), that holds the spirits, chasers, and/or brews YOU want to drink.
For the first time ever, the IGLOO brand will have its inaugural event in Atlanta. When asked what patrons can expect of the IGLOO Atlanta branch, Caribbean-inspired clothing brand RepJA’s spokesperson Omar Anthony told the Jamaica Observer, “The fusion of all genres of music coupled with the ability to be your own bartender and drink what you want with whomever and however you want, as long as it’s done responsibly. That’s the kind of vibe patrons can expect”.
With branches in Jamaica, Florida and now Atlanta, the IGLOO movement is one we will definitely be keeping our eyes on! IGLOO is an event that embodies the character, voice, and spirit of Jamaicans inviting other West Indians to bring their culture and free up to the sounds provided by some of the Caribbean’s top disc jocks!
COCO’s favourite Trini-DJ, Shane Talon, will be spinning at IGLOO Atlanta alongside ATL’s own Mix Master David and DJ Kash; sound system, Coppershot Music, will be in town to bring ‘authentic, wild, and crazy fun’ straight from JA! Read more details about IGLOO Atlanta and listen to Coppershot’s promotional mix for the event below. I hope to see you there making Caribbean history in Atlanta.
